Write for us

Northern Food Culture welcomes pitches that help readers see northern food with more curiosity and make considered use of ingredients, methods and kitchen resources. We are interested in clear, original ideas rather than broad claims about what a whole region eats.

What to pitch

We welcome proposals about ingredients, food traditions, cooking methods, seasonal choices and kitchen craft. A strong pitch has a focused question, a clear reason it matters to readers and a useful angle that can stand on its own. It might explain a technique, compare two approaches or trace the background of a familiar food.

Make the idea specific

Tell us the proposed subject, the main point you want readers to understand and what makes your approach distinct. Note any regional or cultural context that matters, and flag claims that would need careful qualification. We favour work that can be useful without costly equipment, specialist access or unsupported health claims.

Sending a proposal

Send pitches and writing proposals through the Contact page. Choose the editorial question option and include a short outline in your message. Please do not send confidential material or assume that a pitch has been accepted until you receive a reply.
